Registry Agency setting

Registry agency

Overview

The Registry Agency setting controls how the FMR handles structures that use three-part version numbers when those structures are owned or imported from external agencies.

In a perfect world, every externally maintained structure would follow semantic versioning exactly. In practice, that is not always true. Different agencies may use version numbers that look semantically versioned, but do not follow the expected rules in a way that the FMR can safely enforce. This setting gives system administrators a way to define which agencies should be treated as actively maintained by the FMR and therefore held to the standard semantic versioning checks.

How It Works

You can optionally define a list of agencies for which semantic versioning rules should remain strict. Structures owned by agencies that are not in this list are treated more permissively, which helps imported content from external sources load successfully even when its version numbering would otherwise be rejected.

If the setting is left as -not defined-, all registered agencies are shown when users create new structures.

Administrator Notes

This is a system-wide setting, so the chosen agency list applies to the entire FMR installation.

Changing the setting does not re-evaluate whether existing structures comply with the semantic versioning rules.
